Aside from being fantastic exercise coaches, they are also extremely knowledgeable in many aspects of health and fitness; so, it's time that you get to know them a little better! Each week, we will post a frequently asked, or sometimes just a fun fitness related question followed by the answers of each of the trainers at Fitness Together Brecksville.
What is your Favorite Post Workout
Meal?
Bronson Rotaru: My
favorite post workout meal is sweet potatoes, a good source of protein (usually
tuna, chicken or fish) and Broccoli.
Kerry
Fairchild: My favorite post-workout food depends on the
length of the workout. One hour or less: low-fat chocolate milk for
the protein:carb ratio. More than one hour: banana for the potassium,
pretzels for the sodium and low-fat chocolate milk. Water everyday,
all day, with or without exercise.
Adam Teplitz: Your post
workout meal just might be the most important meal you eat all day.
When you workout, your muscles break down and use up their carbohydrate stores for fuel.
During your workout, the muscle protein drops, but within 45 minutes after your workout, your body is the most responsive to absorbing carbohydrates and protein. Right after my workouts, I go straight for my whey protein shake consisting of 30 grams of protein. About an hour after my shake, I'll have my post workout meal. It'll usually consist of Greek yogurt , and either a turkey or grilled chicken sandwich. Nothing too exciting, but it'll give me the necessary carbs and protein to get optimal results from my workout.

Taynee Pearson: It is
important to eat a meal after working out to replace the energy lost through
your workout. A meal including a carbohydrate and a protein is the most
complete balanced meal after a workout. My favorite post workout is a peanut
butter sandwich using whole grain bread.
