How Do I Get Rid of Flabby Arms?

Adam Teplitz: The arms. It's the most common area that my clients want to target. In order to get rid of arm flab, the triceps muscle must be focused on. There are plenty of exercises that target the triceps. However, one exercise stands out among the rest...the triangle push up. This exercise produces the most muscle activity within the triceps.

Like a traditional push up, the triangle push up can be performed on your knees or toes. Rather than aligning your arms beneath your shoulders, your hands form a triangle directly underneath the chest. This type of alignment puts more emphasis on the triceps. As with any push up, focus on keeping your core stable and your body in a straight line as you lower yourself toward the ground.

Additional exercises that activate the triceps at higher levels are triceps kickbacks and dips.
Less effective exercises include overhead triceps extensions, bar push downs , rope extensions , close grip bench press , and lying barbell triceps extension.

A routine that includes a variety of all the exercises listed will ensure results.

It's important to remember that a structured cardio routine and nutrition plan go hand in hand with the strength training routine.

Justin Traft: So many Clients always ask what they can do to get rid of flabby arms. I suggest a couple of simple approaches. In your training program you want to make sure to have a combination of exercises to target both the long and short heads of the biceps brachii muscle. This ensures that different areas are being worked on instead of just one. Also, to have firm arms don't overlook the triceps which are on the back of the bicep. Working on both will help to not only build but give your arms a much more firm, muscular tightness and look. Lastly taking in enough protein to support lean muscle is a must. Without the proper amount of protein in your diet you won't able to support the myosin and actin tear down and rebuild process. Also, change in reps during exercises helps build and trim as well. Ideally complete 10-12 reps for strength, 15 or more for a trimming burn.

Michael Roberto: If you wish to get rid of flabby arms, focus on working on your triceps.  Overtime you will gain muscle and lose fat. Don't forget to workout the other part of the arms as well, to let the triceps rest, because muscle recovery is just as important as working out the muscle itself.
